Beginning January 1, 2026, we are updating our coverage of GLP-1 medications for fully insured commercial members. While we are continuing to cover GLP-1s for type 2 diabetes, we will no longer provide coverage of GLP-1 medications for weight management.
We recognize the significant impact of GLP-1 medications, and we are committed to supporting our members on their healthcare journeys. Members have opportunities to connect with our dedicated team of service professionals for additional information and support. Our teams will review available options and programs to help members manage their weight loss journeys. Care management is also available to all our members at no additional cost.
In addition, we are notifying employer accounts with 50 or more enrolled subscribers about the option to add coverage of GLP-1s for weight management when their plans renew in 2026.
For more information about this change, please visit the new GLP-1s coverage page on our website.
If you have questions, contact our Broker & Account Services team at 866-643-8392 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
Thank you again for your support and all that you do on behalf of our employer accounts and members.
Mass General Brigham Health Plan announced a new program, “Hydrate for Health,” that focuses on creating access to sustainable, free, and clean drinking water at multiple public locations, as well as education about the importance of staying hydrated. Mass General Brigham Health Plan is expanding water availability in communities across Massachusetts, while encouraging reusable bottles and helping to reduce single-use plastic waste, which is a major contributor to microplastic pollution.
The program launched with the installation of a “hydration station,” located at 100 Seaport Boulevard in Boston. A second hydration station was installed at
300 Grand Union Boulevard in Somerville in September 2025, and there will be an ongoing evaluation of other locations. These hydration stations feature a water fountain, bottle refill spot, and a dog bowl. Each hydration station provides approximately 13 gallons, or 208 cups, of free water daily.
